At Home

‘At Home’ explores the artist’s T4T relationship in moments of admiration. A story of queer joy, their existence together validates and affirms one another. Transcending typical levels of respect, solidarity, and understanding.

Through these moments, they exude gender euphoria, away from cis-heteronormative society.

Together they rest from the world others have created. They’re at home.

Transmasculine is a gender identity that describes people who are transgender, siding towards the masculine scale of the gender binary.

Throughout 2018-19, I traveled around the UK, photographing transmasculine people in their chosen “safe spaces”. These are places where they find refuge from society, reflect on their identity, and where they can unapologetically be themselves.

The people I photographed for this project were at various stages of their transition. Going through this myself, it was liberating to photograph others going through the same and exchanging stories of our experiences.

It is to note that not all transgender people medically transition. All trans people are vital & valid.

The Underrated Game

Gender inequality in football is more entrenched than in politics, business, medicine and space exploration, according to a salary survey that compared the employment status and pay of thousands of male and female footballers worldwide.

This project focuses on the Women’s Super League 1 (WSL1) in 2018 – the female version of the Premier League. My aims for the project were to go out and shoot at a range of different matches, bringing exposure to the differences in stadium conditions and the community of the fanbase, in comparison to that of the male calibre. I photographed during the many different stages of the game with different approaches in hopes to capture a generalisation of what it is like to attend women’s football matches.

i’d rather forget

‘I’d Rather Forget’ is rooted in the artist’s hometown, exploring the adolescent yearning to escape the very places that have shaped them. Conveniently situated between Manchester, Liverpool, and North Wales, this town symbolizes a longing for something new and fulfilling, using these places to escape.

Surrounded by countless residential streets that never felt like home, the artist grapples with memories they wish to forget. The town is etched in their mind; they could navigate it with their eyes closed, every path and road exhausted. They often wonder why anyone chose to stay.

this was never forever

‘This Was Never Forever’ captures the essence of UK coastal fronts during the off-season, revealing the haunting beauty of places that are typically vibrant and bustling. Through a series of evocative images, the project explores themes of transience and nostalgia, highlighting the stark contrast between the lively summer months and the quiet solitude of the coast in winter.

The artist invites viewers to contemplate the impermanence of these landscapes, where echoes of past joy linger in the empty promenades and abandoned beach huts. Each photograph serves as a reminder that these coastal destinations, once filled with life, now exist in a state of waiting—a reflection of the ever-changing nature of time and memory.

forget me not

‘Forget Me Not’ is a nostalgic exploration of the places that shaped the artist’s British summertime experiences while growing up. Through a series of evocative images, the project honours the beauty of cherished memories captured in significant realms.

The photographs of classic cars celebrate the culture and craftsmanship of these timeless vehicles, evoking a sense of community and passion. In contrast, the images of historic landscapes reveal the serene beauty of the surroundings, serving as a backdrop to their formative years. Together, these images invite viewers to reminisce about the past, capturing the essence of a summer that remains vividly alive in memory.
